Microblading

What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that creates natural hair-like strokes to shape and define the brow. The process utilizes a grouping of needles with a small amount of pigment to mimic a natural, full brow. During your consultation, we will discuss your desires and expectations to create the ideal design.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading may last 2 years, but can be more or less depending on your skin, body chemistry, lifestyle, and color used. Most patients desire a “color-refresh” touch up at 12-18 months following the initial treatment. Because there is less pigment placed more superficially, microbladed brows will fade more quickly than permanent makeup.

What is microblading vs. eyebrow tattooing (permanent makeup)?

Traditional permanent makeup for brows has a more solid or powdered look (similar to filling with makeup), while microbladed brows generally have a more natural appearance. Eyebrow tattooing is done with a motorized device while microblading is done with a hand-held tool to simulate hair strokes in the brow. The strokes are more fine and crisp, not filling into the skin. Naturally, the pigment will exfoliate out of the skin over time causing the pigment to lighten. We offer both techniques at Vibrance Medical Spa.

Microblading before and after pictures

Viewing microblading pictures is an important part of choosing your permanent makeup artist. You can view some of our photos online; however, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with our aestheticians to view more photos and ask questions about the procedure.

Is microblading a safe procedure?

All procedures at Freed Plastic Surgery and Vibrance Medical Spa are performed in a medical setting with your safety being the top priority. Only sterile, single-use disposable needles are used. Short-term side effects may include redness, swelling, and tenderness. There have been no known allergic reactions to pigment. The pigment brand that we utilize has undergone rigorous testing, has a proven safety record, and is specially formulated to give you long-lasting color. All pigments will fade over time; however, these have shown to stay true to color and fade gradually.

Does microblading hurt?

Topical numbing is applied before the microblading procedure as well as throughout the treatment to ensure your comfort. You may feel a slight pressure/scratch, however, most patients report little to no discomfort.

What can I expect during a microblading session?

During your first procedure (approximately 2 hours) we will take photographs, design your brow shape, apply topical numbing, and choose a brow color. You will then approve the shape and color for your brows prior to the treatment. Immediately after the treatment, most patients can walk out the door ready to show off their new brows. However, keep in mind that they will appear more bold for the first few days of healing. Aftercare is crucial following treatment.

You will receive a touch-up 4-6 weeks following your microblading at no additional charge.
