Botox® Cosmetic is one of the most popular non-surgical procedures performed for the temporary correction of certain facial wrinkles. It is a series of small intramuscular injections of an FDA approved purified protein. It works by reducing the activity of the muscles that cause frown lines, such as those between the brows and crows feet that cause wrinkles to form over time. The result is a more smooth appearance of these areas.

Why do clients return again and again for this treatment? Because it is so simple! The entire procedure lasts approximately ten minutes, and discomfort is minimal and brief.

There is no anesthesia required, and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Results begin to become apparent within days after treatment, and can last up to four months.

Along with Botox, they also use dermal fillers such as Restylane®, or Perlane®, which serve as wonderful compliments for subtle, non-surgical facial corrections. DYSPORT™ is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults younger than 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary).
Frown lines (wrinkles) happen because the muscles that control facial expression are used often (muscle tightening over and over). After DYSPORT™ is injected into the muscles that control facial expression, the medicine stops the tightening of these muscles for up to 4 months.

Restylane is a safe cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that naturally occurs in your body. Free from animal products, this limits the risks of possible allergic reactions. This filler restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, making this an ideal product for the nasolabial folds (the deep ridges occurring between your nose and mouth area). Restylane is also great for providing beautiful lip fullness.

What is a ‘dermal filler’? A dermal filler is a safe injectable gel approved by the FDA for replacing lost volume and smoothing away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from you nose to the corner of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

Perlane® is the latest cosmetic dermal filler from Medicis Aesthetics®, the makers of Restylane®. Like Restylane®, Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is already occurring inherently in your body. It is free from animal proteins such as can be found in collagen. Because of this, allergic reactions are greatly minimized, and there is no allergy pre-test required.

The hyaluronic acid in both products is made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is in the gel particle size. Perlane® gel particles are larger and designed for deeper injections. At your initial consultation, your aesthetic nurse will evaluate the facial wrinkles and folds that you find bothersome to decide which dermal filler would be just right for you to produce the results you desire.

Perlane® can be done in an office setting, with perhaps just a topical anesthetic, or a dental block administered to provide optimum comfort throughout the treatment. As with all injections, there may be some discomfort, and the injection site may appear red initially. There may be minimal bruising and swelling that typically will dissipate over the course of about seven days.

Perlane is long-lasting, with most patients receiving treatments only twice over the course of a year. And because it is a natural substance in your body, the product is broken down over time and eliminated completely by the body, unlike permanent fillers.

It is an excellent companion to Botox® Cosmetic. While Perlane® is used for adding volume to smooth wrinkles, Botox® is ideal for relaxing the muscles that cause frown lines, such as can occur between the eye brows. Your aesthetic nurse can help you determine which treatment, or a combination of both, is most ideally suited for you.

Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvéderm® is injected under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Sclerotherapy improves those unsightly red, blue or purple spider veins that are usually found on the thighs, calves and ankles. During this procedure veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, causing them to collapse and fade from view.
